Miles and Margaret have recently return to New Zealand from a very successful concert tour overseas. The tour began in Singapore where they presented their special educational programme to local schools. Then they gave performances in France, Spain, Sardinia and Italy. One of the highlights was helping harvest Sangiovese grapes and playing for the harvest celebrations near Florence.

On this tour of the North Island during November, the Duo will play in NewPlymouth, Raglan, Cambridge, Auckland,Tokoroa, Kuaotunu, Thames, Rotorua, Napier and Waikanae. Their programme will as usual be eclectic, featuring, their own composition ‘Tarariki’ ; a work inspired by the paintings of Colin McCahon and the beauty of the New Zealand forest. The music speaks of the beauty of nature and the tragic destruction of the forest and birds. They will also play , Latin, Jazz, Gypsy, works by Piazzola and guitar solos, including Flamenco.

Margaret plays a 1899 Degani violin and Miles a Simon Marty Guitar. DUO JACKSON Are unique: Classical guitar and violin are an unusual combination of strings. The diverse range of music styles featured in the
duo’s repertoire and the authenticity of their performance creates a unique musical flavour and style. Margaret and Miles have performed in many countries and extensively throughout Australasia and have given special performances for the New Zealand Embassies in Singapore and Spain. They have made a number of programmes for radio and television and have made many recordings. Over forty years of performance and life together have formed a rapport, which is enchanting to experience. Margaret and
Miles live in Nelson and both teach at the Nelson School of Music. Their own compositions which have a very original style, usually feature in their performances and have been extremely well received.
