Observational New Zealand documentary from veteran independent filmmaker Costa Botes charting the unusual life of musician, journalist, artist and cow whisperer, Cambridge framer Andrew Johnstone.
After a series of failures in love and life, a social misfit returns to his family's farm near
Cambridge, where he discovers an unexpected and bewitching affinity with cows.
Veteran Kiwi filmmaker Costa Botes’ latest feature follows the daily routines of herdsman
Andrew Johnstone, who lives on his parents farm, looking after a large group of beef cattle.
He is thoughtful, highly articulate and well-informed, and in the course of his varied life has
played many roles, from poet, journalist, and radio broadcaster, to farmer, fencer and rock
star.
In this delightful and thought-provoking documentary, we discover the life of a man who
has suffered tragedy and disappointments, but has ultimately found his way to healing and
contentment, giving us all pause for thought and providing some rollicking good yarns along
the way.

Based on the acclaimed novel by John MacKay, The Road Dance is adapted for the screen and directed by Richie Adams. Inspired by true events, this period drama centres on a young woman in a small community on the Isle of Lewis (off the coast of Scotland) in the years leading up to World War I.
Life in the Scottish Hebrides is harsh - the edge of the world some call it. For the beautiful Kirsty (Hermione Corfield), her love for Murdo and their shared dreams of America promise escape from the scrape of the land and a stifled destiny. But the Great War changes all when Murdo is conscripted. The night before the young men go off to battle, tragedy is set in motion as villagers swirl and sup at a “road dance.”
Kirsty herself faces the horrors of a sexual assault that leaves her pregnant—and with few options...

Birdfeeder have had a big year with the release of EP The Vile Isle and accompanying genre-busting stage show, The Veiled Isle. These projects saw Birdfeeder exploring song themes ranging from climate change paranoia to metaphysical musings on the nature of time.

Standing Still is a brand-new stand-up comedy show by seasoned comic, ex-professional dancer and cabaret dynamo Joana Joy (Banana Jolie). In a desperate move to 'do less' and 'be more', JJ has created a stand-up comedy show where she will stand (mostly) still. Except at three random times, decided by the audience -when she will absolutely throw down.
Stand-up comedy with dance. Maybe a Muay Thai demonstration. As a socially conscious comedian, JJ shines light on the human experience. Her material ranges from being a mature age student, the history of dust, idioms rewritten, how to not smoke and have clean habits, meditation, tidying-up, therapy and sibling dynamics.

Director: Richie Adams
Cast: Morven Christie, David Brooks, Hermione Corfield, Felicity Keenan, Ali Fumiko Whitney

In order to move forward, we must first look back
We Are Still Here is a unique Indigenous film that interweaves eight powerful tales to tell a
sweeping story of hope and survival.
Through the eyes of eight protagonists, We Are Still Here traverses 1000 years from past,
present, and future to explore stories of kinship, loss, grief, and resilience. But ultimately, it
shows the strength of love and hope to overcome shared traumas that Indigenous people
from Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific have continued to face.
From the beginning of time, in a Utopian world, a traditional fisherwoman and her Daughter
are fishing when they pull up an ominous ship, foreshadowing stormy seas and tragedy to
follow. Forward to 1862, a British Settler threatens an Aboriginal man to lead him to safety,
whilst in New Zealand, tribes cocooned deep in the forest are preparing for a terrifying
future.
Te Puuru, Te Whenuanui, Te-Mauniko
In 1915, men from the Pacific were sent to support the British Colony in World War One fighting for a land that isn't theirs, with uncertainty of ever seeing home again. Flashing forward into a dystopian future, a young child must navigate her way through a dangerous underground marketplace to save her grandfather and survive.
We Are Still Here showcases the expansive landscapes of the Central Australian Desert to the lush green rainforests of New Zealand.
In spite of colonialism, racism, imperialism and the attempted erasure of Indigenous lives,
WE ARE STILL HERE.
