Karioi Quilts & Crafts - second Thursday of every month.
The Karioi Quilters have been making high quality, natural fibre, artistic quilts for many years. Primarily a patchwork and quilting group, the members meet to share knowledge and skills and enjoy creating in good company.
This year, 2023, we changed the name to Karioi Quilts and Crafts to open the group up to other crafters.
Members can work on their own projects ranging from quilts, sewing projects and you can even bring your knitting, as long as it’s not a messy craft anything goes. New members are always welcome to come along to work on their own projects and learn techniques from a group of very creative craftspeople.
Group co-ordinator is Sue Webber 021 489944
Meetings are held at the Raglan Old School Arts Centre from 10am to 1pm (sometimes 3pm if the room is available) on the second Thursday of every month. 10 sessions per year from February to December. Subscription is $30 per year which goes towards room hire.

Our popular series of showcases for local performers continues this month with Ngaronoa Renata, Odhran Devlin and Ruth Power.
Odhrán (silent d!) hails from County Derry in the north of Ireland. There, he had the fortune to work as a session bass player with some of the finest songwriters of the day. While bass remains his first love, he has written a handful of songs over the years which he accompanies on acoustic guitar. Most of his songs are narrative driven and based on his own experiences. Odhran also plays songs by people he’s had the fortune to record with. He enjoys sharing the stories of these songs and their writers as well.
After a decade playing in various ensembles spanning jazz, prog & synth rock (Ruthie Veronica, Death in Texas, Teamsquad), Ruth Power - the founder of online piano school, Piano Picnic - returns to her original love of atmospheric neo-classical in this second solo performance for Live & Local.
Ngaronoa Renata will showcase her Taonga Puoro Exploration: an exploration of sound using traditional and contemporary indigenous sounds, interwoven with story - Pūrakau .
