CANCELLED- Mar 19 to Apr 13: Arts Weekend preview exhibition takes a creative look at climate change

The countdown is on for the Raglan Arts Weekend at Easter Weekend, and Thursday 19th March sees the opening of the Preview Exhibition and 300 x 300 show at the Old School Arts Centre, 5 Stewart St, Raglan.

Art fans, both local and visiting, will get a teaser of what’s on offer at the Raglan Arts Weekend, with all 37 registered artists displaying two of their works for sale. One of these works is a one-off, 300 x 300mm artwork created especially for this year’s event, and the other is a showcase piece.

“We’re shaking things up this year, and for the first time, we’ll have a theme for the showcase artworks,” says Raglan Arts Weekend coordinator Nicky Brzeska. “We’re asking artists to really challenge themselves and develop work that speaks to our ‘Talking about Climate Change’ theme. It’s a subject that resonates well in our eco-conscious seaside town, and we’re hoping will entice a broader audience to come and see how it is interpreted.”

As per tradition, you’ll be able to pick up an exclusive piece from a favourite artist for $200, but there’s only one per artist and so you will have to be quick. These pieces have proved popular among art lovers wanting to add an affordable artwork by a local artist to their collection.

It’s not only about buying art, visitors will also be able to discover new talent, catch up with established favourites and see what they’ve been up to, as well as plan who they want to visit over the Arts Weekend.
The Preview Exhibition will run from Thursday, March 19th until Monday, April 13th, 2019 from 10am until 2pm at the Old School.

The exhibition opened on the night of Wednesday, March 18th with artists, their friends and family, and Raglan Community Arts Council members.
