Join us for a 30 min fun, educational and engaging session each week. Grounded in the methods of Dalcroze Eurhythmics and Orff Schulwerk, this class nurtures a love for music from a young age.
Bringing attention to the world of sound, rhythm, movement, singing, actions, and play, in these sessions, students will develop in-tune singing using hand signs, and play a range of percussion and melodic instruments.
This holistic approach nurtures all the fundamental aspects needed to grow them into choosing an instrument to pursue further when they are ready. We encourage parents and caregivers to join in on the session.

The CHOSEN season 4 is getting a theatrical run when it arrives in February 2024. Audiences can expect an emotionally heavy season as the plot centers on the final weeks and months of Jesus's life, including the death of John the Baptist and Judas's betrayal.
Clashing kingdoms. Rival rulers. The enemies of Jesus close in while His followers struggle to keep up, leaving him to carry the burden alone. Threatened by the reality of Jesus’ growing influence, religious leaders do the unthinkable—ally with their Roman oppressors. As the seeds of betrayal are planted and opposition to Jesus’ message turns violent, he’s left with no alternative but demand his followers RISE UP.
The cast, including Jonathan Roumie as Jesus and Shara Isaac as Simon Peter, will largely remain the same, with other familiar characters returning as well.
The CHOSEN season 4 will continue Dallas Jenkins’s highly successful modern imagining of the life of Jesus Christ, and the 2024 release date for the return of Jonathan Roumie’s praised portrayal will once again be in theaters. The Chosen first debuted in 2017 and quickly gained attention beyond its core Faith-based viewership. The show has been incredibly well received by both critics and general audiences, swelling in viewership before its popularity exploded when it arrived on Peacock in 2021.
The Chosen season 4 will have a theatrical run before becoming available for streaming or being broadcast (presumably on The CW). The first episodes of The Chosen season 4 will arrive on February 1, with the remaining 5 released biweekly throughout the rest of the month.
The cast of The Chosen season 4 is expected to remain more-or-less unchanged from the first three seasons. Jonathan Roumie (Jesus Revolution) will once again be portraying Jesus Christ, with Shara Isaac (Madam Secretary) back as lead disciple Simon Peter. Mary Magdalene will of course be played once more by Elizabeth Tabish (The Shift).
All three have received praise for their performances in The Chosen, with each being noted for making the Biblical figures relatable (especially Roumie in the lead as Jesus).

Cannes Film Festival Ken Loach for THE OLD OAK 2023 Nominee Palme d’Or
Graeme Tuckett Stuff-Waikato Times, 4/5 Stars “Ken Loach’s swansong is gorgeous, flawed, relatable and unmissable as ever.”

THE OLD OAK is a special place. Not only is it the last pub standing, but it’s also the only remaining public space where people can meet in a once thriving mining community that has now fallen on hard times after 30 years of decline. TJ Ballantyne (Dave Turner) the landlord hangs on to The Old Oak by his fingertips.
His predicament is endangered even more when the pub becomes contested territory after the arrival of Syrian refugees who are placed in the village without any notice. In an unlikely friendship TJ meets a curious young Syrian Yara [Ebla Mari] with her camera. Can they find a way for the two communities to understand each other? So unfolds a deeply moving drama about their fragilities and hopes.

The true underdog story of how Dave Fishwick, a working class man and self-made millionaire, fought to set up a community bank so that he could help the local businesses of Burnley not only survive, but thrive. In his bid to help his beloved community, he has to take on the elitist financial institutions of London and fight to receive the first, new banking license to be issued in over 150 years.
Jen Shieff, Rotorua Post. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED "It's a David-and-Goliath story, in which snooty Oxford-educated bankers get their comeuppance."
'Bank of Dave' tells the story of how a working class Burnley man and self-made millionaire fought to set up a community bank. Dave Fishwick (Rory Kinnear) sells vans in Burnley, Lancashire. Once the world's most productive and profitable mill town, Burnley is now one of the most deprived and neglected towns in the UK. Dave, however, through a combination of hustle and hard work, has done well for himself -- so well that in the wake of the last financial crisis he started lending money at reduced rates to his customers and local businesses. When some of those businesses start making money they ask Dave to reinvest it for them. This gives Dave an idea. Why not set up a tiny local bank that uses local money to fund local enterprise? He will call it: The Bank of Dave. The elite, London based financial authorities however, haven't granted a new bank license for over 150 years and they're not keen to grant one to a van salesmen from Burnley. Dave must enlist the help of London lawyer, Hugh (Joel Fry), junior doctor Alexandra (Phoebe Dynevor) and some local rock legends (Def Leppard) to help fight the good cause.

Karioi Quilts & Crafts - second Thursday of every month.
The Karioi Quilters have been making high quality, natural fibre, artistic quilts for many years. Primarily a patchwork and quilting group, the members meet to share knowledge and skills and enjoy creating in good company.
From 2023, we changed the name to Karioi Quilts and Crafts to open the group up to other crafters.
Members can work on their own projects ranging from quilts, sewing projects and you can even bring your knitting, as long as it’s not a messy craft anything goes. New members are always welcome to come along to work on their own projects and learn techniques from a group of very creative craftspeople.
Group co-ordinator is Sue Webber 021 489944
Meetings are held at the Raglan Old School Arts Centre from 10am to 1pm (sometimes 3pm if the room is available) on the second Thursday of every month. 10 sessions per year from February to December. Subscription is $30 per year which goes towards room hire.

Friday February 9 at Raglan Old School Arts Centre, 5 Stewart Street, Raglan. Upstairs in Whare Tapere.
Koha entry. Doors open at 7pm with Live & Local starting at 7.30pm. Bar open.
Live & Local is back after a summer break. Kicking off the year we have singer-songwriter Joe Wilson, Penni Feather with Nicky Keys, and The Blukes.
Joe Wilson is a singer-songwriter who spent five years busking across New Zealand, Australia and the UK and has now been in Raglan for nine years. His relatable lyrics and heartfelt lyrics are embedded within sweet melodies that give a timeless and nostalgic feel to the songs.
Singer Penni Feather and keyboardist extraordinaire Nicky Keys will showcase more of their recent collaboration. Having taken a few songs out for a ‘training run’ at the last Live & Local in December, they’re back to road-test more of the material for their forthcoming cabaret show.
The Blukes - Six guys got together, each with a song of his choice. With their ages ranging from 40 to 75, the songs cover a wide variety of genres and decades. You will be surprised at what these blokes can play on ukes!
If you’re interested in performing at one of these shows, contact penni@raglanartscentre.co.nz

HOW TO HAVE SEX is a vibrant and authentic depiction of the agonies, ecstasies and ride-or-die glory of young female friendship, from rising British filmmaker Molly Manning Walker.
Three British teenage girls go on a rites-of-passage holiday, drinking, clubbing and hooking up in what should be the best summer of their lives. As they dance their way across the sun-drenched streets of Malia, they find themselves navigating the complexities of sex, consent and self-discovery.
Captured with luminous visuals and a pitch-perfect soundtrack, Manning Walker’s directorial debut paints a painfully familiar portrait of young adulthood, and how first sexual experiences should – or shouldn’t – play out.
Making her debut feature with a vibrant, compassionate look at sex, friendship and the sweet smell of a boozy sunburned summer holiday, director and cinematographer Molly Manning Walker (Scrapper, Good Thanks, You?) paints an exhilarating, moving, and painfully familiar portrait of young adulthood.

In ANATOMY OF A FALL, for the past year, Sandra, a German writer, her French husband Samuel, and their eleven-year-old son Daniel have lived a secluded life in a remote town in the French Alps. When Samuel is found dead in the snow below their chalet, the police question whether he committed suicide or was killed. Samuel's death is treated as suspicious, presumed murder, and Sandra becomes the main suspect. Little by little the trial becomes not just an investigation of the circumstances of Samuel's death, but an unsettling psychological journey into the depths of Sandra and Samuel's conflicted relationship.

NARRATED IN ENGLISH by Remo Anzovino
This is the story of the most famous artistic rivalry of all time, the one between Borromini and Bernini, but also the story of Borromini’s rivalry with himself: a genius so absorbed by his art that he turns it into a demon that devours him from the inside forcing him to choose death to reach eternity.
Borromini deprived himself of everything to pursue a dream: to conquer Rome. It is the story of the architectural revolution of a solitary maestro who changed the appearance of Rome forever, by pushing himself to his limit, but also by battling conventions and prejudices, with the humility to learn from the past to invent the future, with the courage to pursue an idea despite knowing he would pay the price in the end.
Places and works in Rome visited in the film: Barberini Palace, St. Peter’s canopy, San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane, Sant’Andrea al Quirinale, Basilica of Saint John Lateran, Fountain of the Four Rivers in Piazza Navona, St. Peter’s colonnade, and Villa Adriana in Tivoli.
Borromini and Bernini: The Challenge for Perfection is the story of an architectural revolution carried out by a solitary genius who changed the appearance of Rome forever, by taking up a personal challenge against convention and prejudice, by having the humility to learn from the past in order to invent the future, and the courage to pursue an idea by paying the price to the full.
