Always a great night out, you’re assured of the pick of Raglan’s talented singer-songwriters, poets, comedians and more. And all for koha entry!

Each month we showcase three local acts: professionals and amateurs, newbies and old hands.

We’re up to the final Live & Local for the year! Live & Local concerts run on the second Friday of the month, showcasing local performers. This month’s acts are: Matt Kambic, Wilkie Mac with Krissy Jackson and The Blister Sisters.

Inspired by such artists as James Taylor, Gordon Lightfoot, and Dan Fogelberg, Raglan singer-songwriter Matt Kambic will be performing original compositions at December’s Live & Local, accompanied by Raglan muso Brian Wilson for a number or two. If you appreciate the kind of laid-back sound enjoyed back in the day, when records spun on a spindle and a quiet tune reflected a quiet muse, Matt’s your man.

WilkieMac duo (Lynne Wilkins and Michael Mackinnon) are long-time members of the Raglan music scene and have just completed 2 new CDs, due to be released early next year. One is a collection of Lynne’s songs and tunes, and the other of favourite covers. Songs from both these CDs will feature in the set. Krissy Jackson, who is much in demand as one of the top fiddle players on the NZ folk scene, will be joining them on fiddle and vocals.

The Blister Sisters ukulele group formed two years ago out of a couple of local Timebank beginners’ ukulele workshops. Having played a few parties, they made their proper stage debut in the Live & Local NZ Music Month Special in May. They’re back for their second full spot this month, with a set of mostly 60s hits. They say, “The ukulele playing may be basic, but we promise to look frocking gorgeous!”.
