Nov 10: LIVE & LOCAL at the Old School

Friday November 10 at Raglan Old School Arts Centre, 5 Stewart Street, Raglan. Upstairs in Whare Tapere.

Koha entry. Doors open at 7pm with Live & Local starting at 7.30pm. Bar open.

Our popular series of showcases for local performers continues this month.

It’s looking like another great line-up for this month’s showcase of local Whaingaroa acts – and this one’s full of bands. We have The Ragtimers ukulele group, The Music Lovers  and Dave Maybee and Peter Skandera with Ashley Knox and Freddy Limbert.

The Ragtimers will be playing some favourites and one or two songs they’re working up for Christmas – all with the cheerful sound of massed ukes.

The Music Lovers are various combinations of Cathy Trueman, Ray and Betty Diprose and Lucy Haru who will be playing covers and originals.
Raglan musical maestros Dave Maybee & Peter Skandera will be joined by fellow legends Fred’Mo Limbert (drums) & Ashley Knox (bass). Three of these players were in the Raglan Mudsharks (of Raglan By The Sea TVNZ doco fame) and are a big part of Raglan’s legendary music heritage.
They’ll be playing material from Peter & Dave’s new album “Blue Grit & Rhyme“, plus more roots style forays into their blues-edged swamp-country sound – sizzling slide guitars, wailing harp & gut vocals, all underpinned by the formidable engine-room muscle of Fred’Mo & Ash.
