Join Sarah and Sue Court in a journey through the worlds of classical, cabaret, & folk music that speaks to the soul and fills the heart.
Mezzo Soprano, Sarah Court has studied music and business in New Zealand and Australian universities, and has completed post-graduate study in voice at the Prague Conservatorium in the Czech Republic. She has won a number of scholarships including the Dame Sister Mary Leo Scholarship, and has been an Emerging Artist with NBR New Zealand Opera. Solo engagements include performances with choral societies and orchestras throughout Australia and New Zealand. This year, she will be making her Sydney Opera House debut, appearing as alto soloist in the Chorus Oz performance of Israel in Egypt with Sydney Philharmonia Choirs.
Sue Court trained and worked in classical guitar and renaissance lute in England and Italy for a decade during which time she became a founding member of the London Guitar Quartet, giving concerts throughout the UK and Europe. On returning to New Zealand she soon became established as national a leading classical guitarist, both as a soloist and with orchestras. Sue completed a doctorate at Otago University in the 1980s and gradually concert work took second place to a successful 20 year academic career in New Zealand and Australia. Ten years ago when she partnered with Sarah, guitar playing came to the fore again as they established their unique duo offering of classical, folk, cabaret and opera music. She also makes guitars at her home in Raglan, and she currently plays on one of her guitars made while living in Brisbane in 2013.
