Category: Exhibition Long Live Cowgirls exhibition

The “Long Live Cowgirls” exhibition by Nasie Bella Bayley (Burnt Sugar Photography) is a tribute to the grit, grace, and spirit of women in western and rural life, set against the rich backdrop of Raglan’s storied history. Known for its stunning coastal landscapes and deep Māori heritage, Raglan has long been a place where nature and culture intertwine. This exhibition captures the essence of both—combining the rugged beauty of the land with the resilience and strength of cowgirls who live in harmony with it. From the waves of Whaingaroa Harbour to the rolling hills of rural life, each image reflects not only the modern cowgirl’s story but also Raglan’s legacy of freedom, connection, and endurance.

Through these images, Nasie honors the women who work the land and the community that has shaped this unique coastal town, creating a visual narrative that celebrates tradition and progress.

Exhibition opening and artist talk, 6pm Thursday 14 November, licensed bar and cafe open.  Then open 10-2 every day till Thursday 21 November.
