An exciting new workshop led by local ceramics artist Clarissa Machado. Nerikomi is a technique of layering coloured clays to create stunning effects in the finished pieces. Clarissa will teach the class how to make 2 nerikomi blocks from 3 natural colours of clay – one featuring a random pattern and one a planned pattern. Use these blocks to hand-build small pieces using moulds and learn to create a beautiful finish. This is a handbuilding class, however the techniques presented can also be used to create blocks for wheelwork. No experience necessary, suitable for beginning or intermediate clay artists.
Membership if applicable, clay and bisque firing included, glaze firing charged separately.
$160 RCAC + Clay members, $180 RCAC members, $200 non-members
Class limited to 8 max, book online here
