We need your help!
We're throwing and hand building bowls for Raglan's first Empty Bowls fundraiser!
Empty bowls is a global phenomenon where local potters team up with local eateries to raise money for food related charities to care for and feed the hungry in their communities.
We'll descend upon the clay shed for one fab weekend, make as many bowls as possible and once they're fired we'll fill them with tasty food for a big ole community dinner, where diners will pay $20 for their bowl of food, and get to keep the bowl too.
Clay provided! You’ll need to use your clay shed concession card, thank you!
March 4 - Sat - making day 10am - 7pm drop in and out, last one on the wheel at the end of the night cleans up.
March 5 - Sun - trimming and decorating.
Feel free to bring some snacks to share with the crew!
EMPTY BOWLS
All proceeds will go to the food bank's new community Kai Night running regularly down at the Raglan Town Hall Supper Room. Kai Night is free delicious and nutritious food for anyone feeling the pinch or wanting a bit of company... i.e. ALL of us! No stigma mate, just a fun night out for our gorgeous community.

Mark Kermode Observer (UK) 5/5 Stars "Wells knows exactly what she’s doing, and her storytelling is as precise as it is piercing."
At a fading vacation resort, 11-year-old Sophie treasures rare time together with her loving and idealistic father, Calum (Paul Mescal). As a world of adolescence creeps into view, beyond her eye Calum struggles under the weight of life outside of fatherhood.
Twenty years later, Sophie's tender recollections of their last holiday become a powerful and heartrending portrait of their relationship, as she tries to reconcile the father she knew with the man she didn't, in Charlotte Wells’ superb and searingly emotional debut film.

Two-time Oscar nominees Sally Hawkins (The Shape of Water), Steve Coogan (Alan Partridge) and director Stephen Frears (The Queen) join forces, retelling the story of the historian who found the lost remains of England's King Richard III... underneath a Leicester carpark in 2012.
Graham Tuckett Stuff/ Waikato Times, "Sally Hawkins shines in a breezy, enjoyable and very watchable tale"
After having been lost for over 500 years, the remains of King Richard III were discovered beneath a carpark in Leicester. The search had been orchestrated by an amateur historian, Philippa Langley (Hawkins), whose unrelenting research had been met with incomprehension by her friends and family and with scepticism by experts and academics. The Lost King is the life-affirming true story of a woman who refused to be ignored and who took on the country's most eminent historians, forcing them to think again about one of the most controversial kings in England's history.
Coogan co-wrote the script with Jeff Pope, both of whom previously worked with Frears for 2013's Oscar-nominated Philomena.
Director: Stephen Frears
Writer: Steve Coogan, Jeff Pope

Karioi Quilts & Crafts - second Thursday of every month.
The Karioi Quilters have been making high quality, natural fibre, artistic quilts for many years. Primarily a patchwork and quilting group, the members meet to share knowledge and skills and enjoy creating in good company.
This year, 2023, we changed the name to Karioi Quilts and Crafts to open the group up to other crafters.
Members can work on their own projects ranging from quilts, sewing projects and you can even bring your knitting, as long as it’s not a messy craft anything goes. New members are always welcome to come along to work on their own projects and learn techniques from a group of very creative craftspeople.
Group co-ordinator is Sue Webber 021 489944
Meetings are held at the Raglan Old School Arts Centre from 10am to 1pm (sometimes 3pm if the room is available) on the second Thursday of every month. 10 sessions per year from February to December. Subscription is $30 per year which goes towards room hire.

SANDRI TAPIA
What’s up my beautiful people!!
I’m Sandri Tapia (La India Meshica) I’ve been playing the guitar since I first saw a guitar, they say I was seven years old. I’ve been dancing since I learned to walk. I’ve been singing since the day I discovered my voice is the medicine that activates my essence.
I grew up listening to the influences of classic rock, heavy metal, blues, flamenco, gypsy, African and of course Latin American music, from indigenous to reggaeton.
So with so many rhythms I have decided to make a salad with everything I have learned.
The only thing I can say is that I will most likely make you dance.
WIREMU MCCARTHY
Wiremu McCarthy is a singer-songwriter whose art has also evolved into passions for acting and more recently, stand-up comedy. Wiremu blends elements of soul, reggae, funk and folk to bring his own original sound and unique style through with guitar and vocals.

A film by Paul Taublieb
The logical thing, the sane thing, is to stay on land. But they paddle out. Why do these big wave surfers risk their lives to ride these mountain-sized waves? The answer is overcoming fear.
"Ground Swell: The Other Side of Fear" is an in-depth look at the 2021-22 big wave season through the eyes of Nic Von Rupp, Kai Lenny, Matt Bromley, Torrey Meister and pioneering female surfer Bianca Valenti, along with special appearance by Vini dos Santos and maybe the 100 foot wave. They all push past their fear and find out what is on the other side as they tackle monstrous waves in locations from Nazare in Portugal, Jaws and Pipeline in Hawaii and Mavericks in Northern California.

Cast: Sally Hawkins, Steve Coogan, James Fleet, Harry Lloyd, Sinead MacInnes
