Movie: THIS GIANT PAPIER MACHE BOULDER IS ACTUALLY REALLY HEAVY

December 3, 2016

Three ordinary mates - Tom, Jeffrey and Gavin - end up inside a low-budget sci-fi B-movie in this New Zealand comedy.

Panic ridden they stumble into a space battle and make a mortal enemy of the evil Lord Froth while unwittingly saving the space princess Lady Emmanor. Then - suddenly - Jeffrey starts to change into a sci-fi character called Kasimir. They must adapt quickly if they are to survive long enough to find a way home. For all they know they could be next. If that happens they will be lost in this world forever. They embark on a quest to find a cure for Jeffrey and a way back home.

Director, Christian Nicolson, the Torbay artist and one-man film-making dynamo also built all of the props for his low budget sci-fi movie including costumes, helmets, guns and a giant space ship.

He spent weeks scouring his neighbourhood inorganic collections for scrap metal that might be useful.

"I really enjoyed it. I'd drive around looking for anything silver, like lamp shades, silver ducting, old hair dryers and vacuum cleaners."

Best comedy awards at the Boston Sci-Fi Film Festival and Sci-Fi London.
