Movie- THE DISASTER ARTIST (6.10pm)

January 6, 2018

James Croot, Stuff 3 1/2 stars out of 5. "For me, The Disaster Artist literally burst into life when the story reached the making of The Room.

Surrounded by a cadre of comedians including Seth Rogen and Ari Graynor and more serious actors like Zac Efron, Josh Hutcherson and Jacki Weaver, the brothers Franco do a terrific job of recreating its "high" points and detailing the truly chaotic production (a fact illustrated by eerily effective side-by-side shot comparisons with the original).

However, as actor Paul Scheer said at The Disaster Artist's Toronto Film Festival premiere, "it's the perfect prequel for those who've never seen The Room and the perfect sequel for those who have"."

James Franco directs and stars in this behind-the-scenes look at Tommy Wiseau's cult phenomenon The Room. Based on the memoir of The Room co-star Greg Sestero, and starring Dave Franco, Ari Graynor and Seth Rogen alongside a bevy of star-studded cameos.

A tribute to the joy and madness of making movies, The Disaster Artist follows the outrageous adventures of eccentric filmmaker Tommy Wiseau and his best friend, actor Greg Sestero. These two endearing misfits move to L.A. and try to live the Hollywood dream by making their very own feature film, but end up embarking on a wildly unpredictable and hilariously unforgettable production. Leading to one of the most infamous, bizarre, and beloved midnight movies of all time, The Room

Directed by James Franco ('In Dubious Battle', 'As I Lay Dying', 'The Sound and the Fury')

Starring James Franco, Dave Franco, Seth Rogen, Paul Scheer, Ari Graynor, Josh Hutcherson, Alison Brie, Nathan Fielder

Written by Scott Neustadter (based on the book of the same name by Greg Sestero and Tom Bissell)
