Next Level Clay classes for kids: Matariki - Light the Night

Children will be using skills previously taught to create and make clay lamps in different sizes and styles using coil techniques to make a sound vessel as well as design their own clay stamps.

One to three lamps will be made in different styles and sizes. These items will be decorative and functional creations using Kowhaiwhai basic patterns to help light up the night as we move into our new year Matariki celebrations.

The individual lanterns will help celebrate Māori New Year, and welcome in the light, as a sign of hope and prosperity for the year to come.
